This Cookie Policy explains what cookies we use on the 47th Joint Operations Unit website ("the Site"), why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
These cookies are strictly necessary for the Site to function. They enable core features such as access to secure areas and session management. The Site cannot function properly without these cookies. No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

The Site uses browser local storage (not cookies) to remember your preferences. Local storage data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure aggregate page-view counts and Core Web Vitals (load time, layout shift, etc.). These are first-party scripts loaded from our own host and store anonymous identifiers, not personal data. They are used purely to keep the Site fast and to track which pages are useful.

You can opt out by blocking the /_vercel/insights path in your browser, by enabling Do Not Track, or via any standard privacy extension. Both products are designed to be GDPR-compliant by default and do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive when configured this way.
Note: Beyond essential session cookies and the anonymous Vercel Analytics counters above, the Site does not use advertising, cross-site tracking, or third-party marketing cookies. Web fonts are loaded via Next.js'snext/font pipeline (self-hosted at build time). Discord avatar images and YouTube video thumbnails are fetched directly by your browser from cdn.discordapp.com and img.youtube.com; those CDNs may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

The Site embeds content from third parties that may set their own cookies once loaded. We do not control these cookies; review the providers' own policies for detail.

Under UK GDPR and PECR these categories are exempt from prior consent. If we ever add advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or any cookie that requires consent, a banner will appear here first.
The Site also uses a small amount of functional browser storage (localStorage), for example to remember that you dismissed the join prompt. This data never leaves your browser, contains no identifiers, and is exempt from consent requirements in the same way.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, or our operations. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
